Paul Arthur Berkman, Ph.D
Dr. Paul Arthur Berkman is an internationally renowned
Earth scientist, explorer and author who has made
significant contributions to the sustainable development of
our world during the past three decades. Dr. Berkman made
his first trip to Antarctica, wintering over with the
Scripps Institution of Oceanography. The following year, at
age 23, he became a visiting professor at UCLA. By age 30,
he had visited all seven continents and begun his global
career of international and interdisciplinary
collaborations. He has been awarded fellowships from the
National Science Foundation, National Aeronautics and Space
Administration and Japanese Ministry of Education as well
as universities in the United States and New Zealand. Dr.
Berkman also has been awarded the Antarctic Service Medal
from the United States Congress and is the author of
Science into Policy: Global Lessons from Antarctica that
was published in 2002 by Academic Press. Dr. Berkman has
appeared on National Public Radio and the CBS Evening News,
and he serves as an advisor to numerous national and
international scientific organizations. |
